The Body as a Garden: Listening to the Terrain
On Statia, we know a garden tells the truth about the soil it grows in. Your body works the same way. What shows up on the surface is shaped by what’s happening beneath the surface.
In the human body, that inner terrain is influenced by ten major forces — the things that either nourish life or quietly burden it: toxic load, nutrient quality, stress and trauma, chronic inflammation, immune imbalance, mitochondrial weakness, blood sugar instability, circulation and movement, microbiome function, and your physical environment. These are the Big 10 — the places where the terrain speaks loudest.
As you move through this checklist, notice where your body seems to be carrying the greatest weight right now. That is often the place where your next step in healing begins — not with force, but with awareness, compassion, and steady care for your terrain.
How to Use This Assessment
For each statement below, choose the score that best reflects your current reality, based on your normal week: 0 = Rarely true, 1 = Sometimes true, 2 = Often true. At the end, your highest-scoring categories show where your biological soil may be asking for the most support first.
